This study focuses on representations of women migrant workers in the media, with an emphasis on workers from Mexico, Moldova and the Philippines. 138 articles were collected for analysis with women migrant workers as their main subject. The implications of their portrayals are explored and results in a recommended approach that centres woman migrant workers and recognises their agency.

This study is part of UN Women’s EU-funded project, “Promoting and protecting women migrant workers’ labour and human rights: Engaging with international, national human rights mechanisms to enhance accountability”.
